As of right now, students at White Plains High School have been out of school and in self-quarantine for a little over a month. I feel very fortunate to be able to say that social-distancing and staying in quarantine has been quite manageable for my family and I. Every family member of mine is in a similar position, being that they must now work entirely from home and adjust their schedule accordingly. As a junior in high school, it is undoubtedly a difficult time to be away from an academic setting. While teachers are being highly receptive and accommodating to their students’ needs, I recognize that there is still a collective anxiety regarding the uncertainty of future grades and academic standing. It has helped me tremendously to be reminded that I’m not alone in this and that students of all ages are making large changes in their lifestyles. The most important thing right now is to stay healthy. At a time like this, it is more crucial than ever that we, as a community, stick together and support one another. Whether it be virtually-tutoring a peer, checking in on your classmates and teachers, or simply conversing with other local organizations, any act of service within your community will be greatly appreciated.
Stay happy and healthy, everyone!
