With online learning taking the place of traditional in-class lectures, a paragon of opportunities have arisen. Proper partitioning of work coupled with easier exercises that teachers have been administering have allowed room for students to not only better themselves but better their community as a whole. We took this opportunity, and together, constructed a project that not only is close to us, but one that we know will provide a positive source of enrichment for all students. In the beginning, we had little direction, but we knew that we wanted to serve our local students who had been hit hard with the lack of face-to-face contact with their teachers. Additionally, we noticed that this new shift has prompted many of our own classmates to fall behind in their work, and so, White Plains Peer Tutors was born. We knew that in order to provide help, we needed a centralized hub where students who need tutors could visit, contact, and set up appointments. That’s when we decided to rasterize our mission and create a website. Following through with our “For Students By Students” model, we employed the skills of our own tutors to build a website from the ground up. All in all, we are incredibly excited to be of service and can’t wait to begin working with everyone.
Keep well and stay safe!
